CREATURES OF THE DEEP DARK
A two-part Winter Offering
In the deep dark of midwinter, when the world stills and the earth sinks into its dreaming, two ancient beings stir beneath the surface.
They rise from cold waters and shadowed soil, carrying stories of old, old truths, old ways of remembering.
This is a journey into the deep dark. A place of unravelling, shedding, revealing.
A place where you meet the parts of yourself you’ve exiled, forgotten, or grown afraid to touch.
THROUGH TWO MYTHOLOGICAL STORIES
The deep ocean selkie Selkie and the exiled Serpent Lindworm
We begin to uncover the one we long to come home to ourselves
What we will get up to
We will gather twice online, each class two hours long, allowing ample time for storytelling, guided descent, and inner work.
Session 1 The Lindworm
Sunday 14th of December 7pm UK time
Session 2 The Selkie
Sunday 21st of December 7pm UK time
There is a week between our gatherings, a spacious pause for the stories to settle, to land in the body, to integrate their quiet wisdom.
Mythic storytelling as a way of awakening the instinctual and imaginative realms.
Meditative descent practices to listen to the inner world.
Inner work inquiry through journaling, reflection, and symbolic exploration.
Deep analysis of myth to uncover the psychological, archetypal, and spiritual layers of each story.
Why myth? Why these creatures?
Mythology is one of humanity’s oldest ways of knowing.
It reveals what we cannot see directly the symbols, patterns, and subterranean movements of the psyche. Myths speak in the language of dream and instinct. They address both the deeply individual and the profoundly universal. They help us recognise the old stories we were handed, the ones that dull the soul, and offer us a way back to stories that nourish, enliven, and make us more human.
The Lindworm and the Selkie are not merely characters they are archetypal frequencies.
The Lindworm teaches us of shedding and unveiling, of the parts of ourselves we abandoned or buried.
The Selkie teaches us of return, belonging, re-skinning, and the deep waters of intuitive knowing.
Together these beings will be our guide in meeting the darkness of midwinter consciously and leaning into the fecundity of what it has to offer.
